An update from the Website and PR (Public Relations) Team! First and foremost, I have been experiencing some issues with images that are uploaded to WordPress and using them for a slideshow for the main page. Checking online forums and other blogs have led me to conclude that the images either must be the same size, or should exceed the max image side allowed to force WordPress to not automatically update the sizes as each slide plays. I did look into using the CSS editor plugin, yet I was unable to create a solution after several attempts, though I may try again when I have time later.
On a more positive note, you may notice a different website design, as the theme was changed to one that allows more images on the slideshow (up to 10 instead of 5) and a less distracting header. The different teams have also been moved under a single ‘Teams’ header to reduce clutter and mainstream the overall design. I’d like to also announce the museum that is collaborating with us in the creation of this project, the Old State House Museum located in Boston, Massachusetts. Their website is here. We are also in contact with Nat Sheidley, who is a curator at the Museum and is guiding us with ideas and feedback about our project, and he will be coming to visit Carleton College when we give our demonstration!
Later, I hope to create a bio for each team member working on this project so that everyone will receive the credit they deserve. Hopefully we can have an introductory video made that explains the mission behind our project too.
