My name is McLain Sidmore, I am from Juneau, Alaska, and am a Junior history major at Carleton College. My primary area of study is American history and I bring to the Witness to the Revolution project experience in historical research as well as a great interest in historical maps and how geographical and environmental circumstances affected people of the past and the progression of their history. Maps have always appeared to me as a unique window on the past, allowing us a bridge between a historical and a modern landscape and to enable us to view the realities of earlier generations. I do not currently have much experience using digital mapping tools and I have no past experience with 3D programming so I am excited to learn and observe many of these skills and to see the ways in which they can be used to create, study, and share our best interpretations of the past.
