The mission of the Fall 2019 mapping group is to make the map more comprehensive and interactive for the player, particularly through the use of features and the introduction of Revere’s map of the massacre.

Specifically for the 1769 Boston map, the goal is to add icons that illustrate the locations of important buildings, witnesses and people, and routes. We also hope to add the current player’s location to the map to make the city easier for the player to navigate. The player will be able to toggle between these different icons and resize the map, zooming in and out to explore the map. The icons will also resize in proportion to the size of the map and when clicked, will display more information about that site or person.

For the Revere map, we hope to create a map that can vary based on the information explained in each witness deposition. We will include several variables including the location of Captain Thomas Preston, the size of the crowd, and the position of the witness. These variables will be displayed and represented through miniature icons on the map. The player will be able to toggle the viewpoint of different witnesses by clicking on their names in the corner of the screen. Through this, they will switch between different interpretations of the screen.  In addition, there will be an icon representing Boston which will return you to the view of the main 1769 map.

We will be completing these tasks in Unity and ArcGIS.
