Hi there! My name is Grace Brindle and I’m a junior History major at Carleton College from Westfield, NJ.

For me, Witness to the Revolution is an exciting project as it allows me to combine two of my favorite things: history and video games. I’ve been playing PC games since I was six years old and educational games like Oregon Trail have been a vital part of my gaming experience and my childhood. I’m excited to become the game developer as opposed to the player and uncover the tools and techniques that go into video game creation.

Additionally, as a History major, I am always trying to explore different ways to make history more accessible for the public. Witness is a fun and interactive way for the public to engage with American history and apply skills historians use to create their own interpretations of the truth. This project also ties into my job as a Digital Humanities Associate on campus where I strive to find new ways of innovating research in the humanities through technological applications. For me, Witness to the Revolution is an exciting opportunity to further develop my skills in these areas, to learn more about the digital humanities and public history, and to discover new software and digital tools.

Outside of the classroom, I have a radio show on campus, work in the Off-Campus Studies Office, and dance in Synchrony. In my free time, I love reading Kurt Vonnegut, fostering dogs, and watching University of Virginia basketball.
