Greetings, friends and fans of Witness to the Revolution

My name is Cole Hanson and I’m a junior computer science major at Carleton College.

When I first heard about the Witness to the Revolution Project, I was eager to hop on board and see what it was all about. This past winter, I developed a digital-humanities-related video game in Unity and I had a great time with it. Producing my own video game taught me a lot about 3d modeling, 3d rendering, UI/UX, and many more elements of game development workflow. I’m excited to expand upon my development skills by working on a larger, team-driven project.

In addition to enhancing my technical skillset, I’d like to get some experience with narrative development in digital humanities projects. What makes the Boston Massacre an interesting subject of study is that, while it is certainly a pivotal moment in The American Revolution, there is no universal narrative that explains the events leading up to that explosive day in 1770. I’m interested to see how a tailored digital experience can provide historical and humanistic insights to The Boston Massacre.

As of this fall, work on the game has come a long way. I’m excited to join the team and continue to grow such a unique project.
